Oxford City commissioners on May 5 reviewed a modified sketch plan from Northpointe developers that includes several site changes intended to protect a cemetery situated on the property.
The meeting lead said the revision moves the stormwater pond to the southern end of the entrance, realigns interior streets “to better protect the cemetery,” and reconfigures sidewalk layouts to protect environmentally sensitive areas. The chair also said the developer added some lots but remains below the maximum allowed lot count.
City manager Brent Taylor confirmed staff’s recommendation to approve the sketch plan features, and the meeting lead asked commissioners to review the materials ahead of the next discussion so staff can respond to specific questions. “You need to come any questions we have, please, approach Mrs. Hart before the board meeting that he can be accurate on what we’re saying on this project,” the meeting lead said.
Commissioners emphasized protecting the cemetery and minimizing impacts from street realignment and stormwater infrastructure. The meeting lead pointed commissioners to the last page of the plan packet during the presentation and encouraged one-on-one review with staff prior to action.
No formal vote on the sketch plan appeared in the provided transcript segment; staff advised commissioners to examine the materials and return with questions at the next meeting or work session.
The commission also discussed related site details including the stormwater pond relocation and sidewalk alignment; staff described these as measures to protect both cemetery plots and environmentally sensitive features.
Next steps: commissioners were asked to review the sketch plan pages in advance and raise technical questions with staff before any formal action.
