He said the system will let office staff create events and allow visitors to register in advance through an app, reducing long check-in lines.
A committee member asked about equipment needs and whether implementation will require new purchases. Mr. Roan said "there will be some small upgrades to equipment, but we will be able to reuse some of our current stuff." Ms. Hauser said money for a visitor-management system "was always money in the budget" and that Raptor would replace the district’s prior system in next year’s budget.
Members also discussed how the system handles background checks. Mr. Roan described automatic checks against the offender registry, noting as recorded on the transcript that the system runs required checks "by legislation" and will run what the transcript names as "Megan's law" checks. A committee member urged care in how staff escort or interact with parents who trigger an offender-registry match, saying it "creates a little bit of a different dynamic to navigate." Mr. Roan said the district has standard operating procedures and policy to address such situations.
After discussion, the committee voted to move the Raptor recommendation to an action/workshop meeting; the motion carried. The item will return with implementation details and budget information for further consideration.
