The Collierville Planning Commission opened its first meeting of the year, reappointed the existing chair, vice chair and secretary by acclamation and approved the minutes from the December meeting.
Chair called the meeting, led the Pledge of Allegiance and asked Angela to call the roll. After procedural business the commission closed the citizens' comment period when no members of the public came forward.
Don, a planning department staff member, reviewed administrative items and upcoming opportunities: state disclosure forms are due Jan. 31, the state requires a minimum four‑hour training in 2026 for planning and zoning board members, and an optional three‑hour orientation for new members is planned Jan. 14. Don announced the planning department will introduce a new planner on Jan. 20 and encouraged commissioners to complete a community survey and interactive map for the town's 2050 plan via a provided QR code.
Don also listed items that may appear on future agendas, including a preliminary site plan for a new three‑story mixed‑use building at 215 South Center Street (the former Gus' building), a seven‑lot preliminary subdivision plat called Eagles Landing and a conditional‑use permit application for a solar energy site. He warned that the solar item might be delayed to March.
The commission adjourned after these announcements.
