Budget board reviews February finances; approves routine transfers and establishes behavioral care fund

County finance staff presented the board with a February financial briefing showing year-to-date revenue of about $106 million and a cash balance reported around $54 million. The presenter noted a $3.8 million collection for February 2026 and a 6.5% decrease compared with the same period in the prior fiscal year; employee benefits cash-on-hand and capital project unallocated funds were discussed.
Mr. Wilkerson reported claims paid through February and said medical claims were 16% higher than the same point last fiscal year while prescription costs were down 13%; pharmacy reimbursements improved the net position by about $4.8 million.
Following the presentations, the board approved several routine actions by voice vote: an ARPA interfund reallocation to close and reassign $437.49 for a sheriff community violence project (Item 45); a $266,157 transfer of state public health funds into the community investment fund (Item 46); a small GPS user-fee transfer for court services (Item 47); and establishment of a dedicated fund account for the Behavioral Care Center to track building and professional services costs (Item 48). Additional routine transfers to employee benefits, records preservation and engineering payroll were also approved.
Board members said they would monitor a short list of items (including employee benefits and juvenile salary/benefit changes) in coming months.
