Board approves Oamek subdivision plat, local grant and hires, signs final infrastructure payment

Pottawattamie County supervisors approved the final plat for Oamek Subdivision in Crescent Township, authorized a $3,000 gaming-fund grant to Avoca Main Street, approved final payment to the City of Hancock for an RPCIC project, signed the Secondary Roads budget for DOT submittal, and approved personnel and insurance actions including hiring an Assistant Tax & Finance Officer.
At its April 28 meeting the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors cleared several routine but locally consequential items.
Planning and Zoning: On motion by Supervisor Wichman and second by Supervisor Jorgensen the Board approved Planning and Zoning Resolution No. 2026-04, which grants final plat approval for the Oamek Subdivision in Crescent Township (Case #SUB-2026-01). The resolution finds the final plat in substantial compliance with the previously approved preliminary plat and county code, and the Chair was authorized to sign the plat.
Local grants and payments: The Board approved a request to fund Avoca Main Street at $3,000 for FY2026/27 to be paid from county gaming funds. The Board also approved a final payment of $18,157 to the City of Hancock for the RPCIC project covering water tower repairs and a lagoon evaluation.
Administrative approvals: The Board authorized the Secondary Roads budget for Department of Transportation submittal and approved the county dental insurance program for FY2026/27. The Board also approved hiring an Assistant Tax & Finance Officer in the Auditor’s Office at a rate of $33.17 per hour and approved the hiring of Daniel Weatherill as a part-time entry security personnel for the Sheriff’s Office (the latter was approved as part of the consent agenda).
All of the above motions were adopted on unanimous votes recorded in the meeting minutes.
