The City of North Augusta took four formal votes at its May 4 meeting; each passed by unanimous voice vote.
- The Hive general development plan (second reading): Council approved an ordinance to codify a general development plan for roughly 201.8 acres on the east side of West Martintown Road. Staff described three components: a commercial frontage on Martintown Road, a multifamily component currently under construction, and a single-family section being developed by Stanley Martin Homes. (Vote announced unanimous.)
- Hammonds Ferry entrance sign (resolution): Council approved a resolution authorizing an entrance sign for the Hammonds Ferry development because the sign sits on city property; the homeowners association will pay for the sign. (One-vote resolution; unanimous.)
- Animal-control facility improvements (Public Safety Res. 2026-27): Council authorized up to $40,000 from the capital projects fund to install kennel drains, add exterior runs, and create a puppy exterior area to improve sanitation and animal care; staff and volunteers described the projects as short-term fixes while a citizens’ committee pursues long-term shelter planning. (Unanimous vote.)
- Willow Creek Drive streambank stabilization (NRCS grant amendment): Council approved a $55,000 increase to finish work at the Willowwick-area streambank; staff said the NRCS federal grant still covers the project at 100% and the amendment keeps the work under the NRCS cap; completion was estimated within about 45 days. (Unanimous vote.)
Each approved item was announced as unanimous on the council floor; staff identified next steps for implementation and follow-up reporting as appropriate.
