The single audit reviewed federal programs (child nutrition and ESSER) as required when federal receipts exceed $1,000,000.
The administration highlighted a roughly 23% increase in unpaid meal balances and described outreach and policy steps: increased reminders, targeted community outreach to help eligible families apply for free/reduced lunch, and more central-office oversight of student-activity funds. The administration said a deputy treasurer was appointed in July to strengthen controls and that auditors will return for the next cycle.
Board members acknowledged the overall positive audit opinion and noted unpaid meal balances and student-activity fund oversight as issues other districts also face. Administration said it will bring further recommendations on food-service rates and the process for reducing meal balances.
