Administration said last year’s larger-scope plan proved too costly and that the revised application focuses on renovating existing CTE space to make classroom and lab spaces current for program needs. The application was resubmitted to the state in January to keep the district’s place in the funding queue; the administration said state funding remains uncertain and delaying the project could forfeit that opportunity.
Administration recommended $8,000 as a must-have design update and estimated community-engagement and design costs in a $22,000–$27,000 range; the board authorized up to $27,000 to allow flexibility while staff continue design refinement. Finance staff reviewed bond-cost assumptions for larger projects and provided high/low payment scenarios for context.
The board voted to proceed and administration said a public hearing on the amount will be held at the next meeting; bringing architects and more detailed plans will follow as funding becomes clearer.
