Erica, the Sustainability Advisory Board’s staff liaison, reported on recent outreach and upcoming events during the April 29 special meeting. "What I have heard is an estimated 3,000 attendees," Erica said when summarizing the Arbor/Earth Day event and praised volunteers and partners for organization and positive vendor feedback.
Erica reviewed logistics for an upcoming cleanup day (staff and volunteers, tents, chairs, LED kits) and asked for volunteers to pick up refreshments; one member volunteered to pick up cookies Friday at 5 p.m. She also confirmed staff presence and asked for volunteers to staff the Town Fair on May 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., noting that staff (Tara, Emma and Caleb) will be on site and members could sign up for shifts.
The board discussed the number of giveaway items left from recent events (one member estimated roughly 200 dishwasher packets remaining) and agreed to save certain materials for the town fair and farmers markets. Erica said the communications team created a recycling-center flyer that was shared with the Farmington Landfill and that the board would print Resource Central flyers and community fruit-rescue materials to hand out at events.
Members also reported small-scale outreach since the last meeting: a hotel workshop that distributed roughly 15 kits from 30 available and planned pollinator workshops and surveys at community gardens. Erica encouraged board members to RSVP on the shared calendar when they commit to staff booths so staffing expectations are clear.
The board closed the outreach items and moved on to the applicant review portion of the meeting.
