Public commenters raise website accuracy, election hand-counts and school health concerns during county meeting

At the Jan. 13 Arapahoe County Board meeting, several members of the public used the non-agenda public-comment period to bring distinct concerns to the record.
Candace Rutledge of Littleton told commissioners she had found inconsistent information on county web pages about a stage-2 burn ban and exemptions and questioned whether those inconsistencies were due to a DNS or county-website issue. She said signage lacked dates and described how conflicting guidance had caused people to wait outside county facilities in cold weather.
Karen Talentire, also of Littleton, urged the county to consider—or at least acknowledged citizen-organized—hand counts at the precinct level as a community verification method. She described recruiting and training volunteers to hand-count ballots and framed the effort as a response to distrust of current systems.
Dr. Greg Sullivan placed on the record health concerns over a proposed 32-pump fuel center near schools that serve about 660 children, citing routine emissions of benzene and ultrafine particles and urging denial or a pause for a child-focused health impact assessment before any approval.
The board closed public comment without responding directly but noted the items will be taken for follow-up and that citizens may email commissioners@arapahogov.com with additional information.
