Housing committee schedules displacement tabletop exercises, plans SOP and Oct. presentation

Town staff reported to the Housing Action Committee on Aug. 26 that a displacement work group will hold tabletop exercises beginning Sept. 13 to test the plan, identify gaps in services and craft a standard operating procedures (SOP) checklist clarifying roles and responsibilities.
Quincy said the displacement kickoff included staff and partners and that the work group’s goal is to “examine if there's any gaps in services or are there any gaps in the plan that we need to further review.” The staff expectation is to present a revised displacement plan to the HAC on Oct. 14 after a second tabletop and follow‑up meetings.
Committee members named the local network group supporting the displacement effort and communications: Sandy Gillis, Luana Grace Sellers, Sandy West and Katie Veron. Quincy said staff would follow up with the new communications director — who has recently started — to develop the communications plan around displacement and to schedule smaller follow‑up meetings.
Why it matters: Committee members are seeking a clear, operational plan to reduce displacement risk and want an SOP that defines who does what in an event that would trigger displacement responses. The planned tabletop exercises are intended to show where services or procedures need strengthening before the plan is finalized.
What’s next: The work group will complete additional tabletop exercises in September and early October, refine an SOP and return a proposed displacement plan to the HAC on Oct. 14 for review.
