Miss English opened the "Spotlight on Teaching and Learning," and Callie Beach, director of Career and Technical Education, announced FBLA winners from JH Rose, including students who placed first in computer game and simulation programming and winners in chapter competitions. FBLA representatives said teams will compete in San Antonio this summer.
DH Conley, FFA advisers and TSA and SkillsUSA presenters also honored students who placed first in state competitions and will represent the district at national events. The board congratulated students by name where presenters provided them.
The board recognized 15 campuses that participate in Capturing Kids Hearts and named national showcase recipients for the 2026 school year, including Bethel School, Coughlin Elementary School, Farmville Middle School, Lake Forest Elementary School and South Central High School. Julie Simpson announced that South Greenville Elementary’s media coordinator received a James J. and Mamie Richardson Perkins grant of $33,252 to update the school’s media center; the school held a ribbon cutting in March.
Board members and the superintendent used closing remarks to emphasize teacher appreciation and to commend students and staff for their achievements.
