The Thompson's Station Planning Commission on April 28 approved a site plan for a new Williamson County fire station (Burwood Fire Hall) at 1955 Thompson's Station Road West. Williamson County Emergency Services and consultant John Gorham of Clark Associates presented the proposal for a 21,635-square-foot station on a 12-acre T3 (neighborhood mixed-use) parcel. Staff recommended approval with contingencies.
The plan calls for 72 parking spaces, three accessible spaces, and a building layout similar to Station 24 on Goose Creek Pike, the applicant said. Commissioners asked about a sprinkler-system contingency and whether water-flow at the street would meet the LDO's 1,500 gallons-per-minute standard for the street. Staff said the site has low water flow in places and that the town and county are working with the applicant on mitigating solutions; the Land Development Ordinance permits relief by providing fire sprinklers throughout the building if the required flow at the street cannot be achieved.
Commissioner (speaker 4) moved to approve the site plan, inclusive of town-stated contingencies; the commission recorded ayes during roll call and approved the plan.
Next steps are standard: finalize conditions listed in staff recommendations, coordinate final site-plan approvals and ensure any fire-suppression contingencies are satisfied before construction permits are issued.
