The Thompson's Station Planning Commission on April 28 recommended initial Community Commercial (CC) zoning for a parcel at 1655 Lewisburg Pike, resolving an administrative oversight tied to a 2012 annexation referendum. Town staff told the commission the referendum and election results were certified by the Williamson County Election Commission in 2012 but the town had not completed the necessary administrative notices until late last year.
Staff said the property (Map 133, Parcel 011) should be zoned CC because surrounding parcels along the Lewisburg Pike/Highway 431 corridor are already CC and the town's general plan supports that designation. "It was discovered late last year that the town had never administratively completed that annexation process," a staff presenter said, and staff asked the commission to recommend CC zoning to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
Commissioner (speaker 5) moved for a favorable recommendation; the commission conducted a roll-call vote and recorded ayes from Miss Rumpler, Mr. Cagle, Mr. Stevenson, Mr. Harris, Mr. White, Mr. Alexander and Mr. Stark. No formal objections were recorded in the meeting transcript.
The commission's recommendation is an advisory step; the final zoning decision will be made by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA). The move corrects a 14-year administrative lapse by completing the paperwork and establishing an initial zoning designation for the parcel.
