Staff said the change is primarily wording that was omitted when the municipal code was digitized; making the setback standards consistent would allow businesses, such as a proposed laundromat, more flexibility in building footprints. Christopher (speaker 16) and Ed (speaker 10) said additional technical changes may also be identified before public notice is published.
Council directed staff to prepare detailed change language to accompany the hearing notice so the public and adjacent property owners can review the specific edits before the hearing.
