Supervisor Viviano told the board that while the township's website is hosted by CivicPlus and many elements already meet accessibility standards, converting thousands of documents into an accessible format would be prohibitively expensive if done at a per-page rate. The CivicPlus tool, once activated, allows users to convert documents to accessible HTML in the cloud on demand.
Staff said the tool is not a permanent modification to the underlying document; it provides a cloud-based conversion and is more cost-effective than earlier quoted services. Trustees raised the compliance deadline and potential fines; Supervisor Viviano said the township must be compliant by April (year cited in meeting), and the purchase aims to reduce legal exposure while staff completes other accessibility work.
The board approved the $17,056 purchase unanimously.
