"The survey is open now until May 1," said a representative of the initiative, urging residents 45 and older to complete the roughly 15–20 minute questionnaire at agefriendlyomaha.org. Council members and project leaders said the first year will focus on listening to older adults to identify where the city is succeeding and where it should focus efforts over the next five years.
The proclamation framed the effort as part of a national movement to prepare for demographic shifts — noting that by 2030 one in five Americans will be 65 or older — and committed the council to supporting inclusive assessments and community action planning. The council acknowledged the initiative during opening remarks and invited broader public participation.
