Council approves lease rider to unlock Head Start funds for local child-development hub

The Evanston City Council on Feb. 4 adopted Resolution 25-09, a lease rider needed for the Evanston Child Development Center Inc. to receive Head Start funding for improvements to the center’s hub building.
Kendra West, who identified herself and gave a local address, told the council the rider is an Office of Head Start requirement and "really, it doesn't change the lease. Just gives additional details and information that is required by the office of Head Start." She said the rider must be added to the lease for the funding to be released. Council members noted the topic had been discussed in an earlier work session and that a similar action had been taken previously for other property.
After brief remarks, the council moved, seconded and approved Resolution 25-09. West thanked the council for placing the item on the agenda quickly.
