Council approves Shoemaker pre‑annexation and one small annexation; other procedural requests denied
Summary
The council approved a Shoemaker Properties pre‑annexation and pre‑zoning application for a 40‑acre Highway 2026 site and approved an annexation at 1325 Chicago Street to cure an unauthorized split; a procedural request to reconsider Orchard Acres was denied earlier in the meeting.
The Nampa City Council approved multiple annexation items during its May 4 meeting.
The council voted to recommend pre‑annexation and pre‑zoning for a 40‑acre site at Highway 2026 and Prescott Lane (Shoemaker Properties and Valley Pentecostal Church). Jeff Hatch of Hatch Design Architecture presented the project as a three‑parcel site with interim open‑air storage, future utilities and a planned church parcel; staff said the pre‑annexation gives the applicant assurance that the city will ask Canyon County to honor the city’s comprehensive plan designation and any conditions if the county reviews the application. The motion carried on roll call.
Separately the council unanimously approved annexation and zoning to RS‑7 for a small lot at 1325 Chicago Street (applicant April Ramji) after staff described the parcel split issue and recommended annexation as a pragmatic fix; the Planning & Zoning Commission had recommended approval.
Earlier in the meeting the council rejected a procedural motion to grant reconsideration for the Orchard Acres annexation/zoning (a motion that would have allowed a new hearing); the motion to grant reconsideration failed on roll call (two in favor, majority opposed). Staff will notify the applicant of that denial by email.
