The Salinas City Elementary School District recognized dozens of retirees and employees of the year during a joint meeting with the City Council on May 5. Assistant Superintendent Susana Mancera (introduced by the superintendent) called retirees by name and years of service, including staff with service ranging from two years to more than three decades.
The district also announced employee-of-the-year recipients at each school site and in key departments: examples named in the presentation included Angelica Marquez and Anna Tallavera (Dual Immersion Academy), Nicole Williams (Sherwood Elementary), Samuel Swanson (University Park Elementary) and staff from maintenance, operations and transportation and special services.
Superintendent Andrade thanked retirees and staff and invited attendees to a reception after the presentations.
