Residents complain about Airbnb parking and request review of speed bumps during public comment

During the public-comment portion of the meeting, Lisa Wheeler and Mack Schultz of Earl Fields Cir told the Tuscaloosa County Commission they are concerned about an Airbnb on their street that they said blocks the road and private driveways with street parking, parks on lawns, and has generated excessive noise and alleged gun-related activity. Captain Jeff Holloway of the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office addressed the commission and said he would confer with Wheeler and Schultz after the meeting to discuss potential solutions and update the commission accordingly.
Thomas Gregory of Wesley Chapel Rd. addressed the commission to request an explanation of the approval process for newly installed speed bumps on his roadway and expressed his belief that the speed bumps do not meet necessary requirements. Probate Judge Ward D. “Rob” Robertson, III said the commission is aware of the matter and that it is under review.
No formal action or vote was recorded on either public-comment item at this meeting; the minutes record follow-up by the sheriff’s office and a review by the commission.
