The Tuscaloosa County Commission unanimously authorized County Attorney Robert Spence to commence condemnation proceedings on several properties across Districts I, II and IV after motions by Commissioners Stan Acker and Reginald Murray with seconds by Commissioner Mark C. Nelson. Properties listed for condemnation included 16455 Searcy Rd. (Parcel ID 63-15-04-19-0-001-001.000), multiple parcels on Joneswood Rd. including 4830, 4842, 4850 and 4856, and addresses on Culver Rd. and Pearson Cir., among others.
Commissioner Stan Acker moved, seconded by Commissioner Mark C. Nelson, to authorize demolition of structures determined to be public nuisances at 9320 Sanders Ferry Rd. (Parcel ID 63-35-01-01-3-001-015.000) and 12669 Frog Ridge Rd. (Parcel ID 63-35-04-20-0-000-009.000); the motion passed unanimously.
The commission granted two 30-day extensions: in Commissioner Jerry Tingle’s absence the commission granted an extension to a property owner at 3712 12th St. NE to complete repairs, and, after discussion, granted an extension to a property owner at 3920 Culver Rd. to complete a self-managed demolition. Both extensions were approved by unanimous vote.
