Raymore to launch decadal charter review; council to present resolution in June

Raymore — Mayor Turnbaugh told the council Monday the city will begin the charter-review process required by section 14.8 of the municipal charter.
The mayor said the charter — adopted in 1997 and last reviewed in 2016–17 — calls for a review from time to time but no less often than every 10 years. The council will present a resolution outlining the commission’s scope, membership and timeline; Turnbaugh said the resolution will appear at a June 8 meeting and that any recommended amendments would be scheduled for a future ballot, most likely next November, not this November.
Council members may nominate residents to serve on the commission; the city will follow the procedure the council has used in prior reviews and direct staff to return with a resolution for approval.
