School board approves five-year plan, personnel moves and ExactPath purchase; superintendent outlines FEMA arbitration timeline

The board approved personnel recommendations that included hiring a substitute bus driver and bus monitor, acknowledged a resignation (Miss Barwick, leaving for a position in Thomas County) and accepted a retirement notice (Christine Androwski). Trustees also approved the summer-school food-service recommendations and continuing professional-contract teachers.
On curriculum and intervention software, the superintendent recommended buying ExactPath as a district site license for tier 2 and tier 3 interventions, describing it as a state-approved platform that supports intervention work. "It's our state approved, intervention program for tier 1 and tier 2," the superintendent said, recommending the purchase. Staff indicated the cost for the ExactPath site license as $61,004.09; the board approved the addendum to purchase the license.
The superintendent also updated trustees on a pending FEMA arbitration related to hurricane funding: FEMA's response was expected the next day, the district's reply is due May 28, FEMA's reply June 9, and a potential hearing could be scheduled in late June. The superintendent said the issue involves a significant sum and that the district is working with outside counsel on next steps.
Finally, the board approved appointing Miss Hayden as the non-voting school-board representative to the Town of Greenville Planning Committee and recessed to hold scheduled expulsion hearings.
