Flower Hill board approves fireworks permit, ratifies grant-funded electric vehicle and approves budget adjustments

Following the special public meeting about the Best Western, the Village of Flower Hill board of trustees completed routine business items including approvals for upcoming events, equipment purchases and budget housekeeping.
The board held a public hearing for the annual fireworks display at North Hempstead Country Club on July 2 (9 p.m., 15to20 minutes) and moved to approve the permit and associated conditions; one member said she had to abstain during the vote. Trustees said they expect coordination with the Nassau County Police Department and the fire marshal.
Separately the board ratified the purchase of a 100% electric code enforcement vehicle funded largely through a grant. Trustees discussed branding and noted the grant required a fully electric vehicle. The vehicle was reported delivered and will be outfitted with lights and village markings.
Treasurer presented budget adjustments needed to close out the prior fiscal year, including increases in building-permit revenue and offsets for CHIPS (highway) reimbursements; trustees approved the adjustments. The board also briefly discussed parking and planning items that will be scheduled for future meetings and then moved to executive session to discuss two legal matters.
The board indicated several items will return at the June 1 meeting, and it asked staff to provide follow-up documentation on the purchases, permits and budget reconciliations.
