West Clermont honors dozens of longtime staff and showcases student projects

The West Clermont Board of Education recognized dozens of retiring employees May 4 and heard student presentations highlighting academic and career-readiness programs.
Administrators and building leaders introduced retirees from Amelia Elementary, Holly Hill, West Clermont High and other district locations, noting years of service, specialized roles and memorable contributions. Examples cited in remarks included Jennifer Burgess (27 years in reading recovery and Title I), Kathy Berchtold (21 years, preschool special education and kindergarten), Diane Hale (more than four decades of service), Holly Jeske (33 years in special education/paraprofessional roles) and several West Clermont High staff members recognized for decades of service.
Students representing West Clermont High’s Student Lighthouse and WolfLab presented on programs ranging from college credit plus (CCP) and AP coursework to a pre-apprenticeship program that includes internships and employer site visits. A student described starting a "Spiffy U" initiative and a WolfLab shop aimed at building presentation skills and entrepreneurship.
Board and staff members praised retirees for their commitment and thanked student presenters for sharing experiences that connected classroom learning to career and college pathways. The district paused for a short recess mid-program and then resumed with additional student presentations and district business.
