Fairfield County commissioners approve 48 resolutions including bridge contracts and grant agreements

At their April 28, 2026, regular voting meeting, the Fairfield County Board of Commissioners approved a slate of 48 resolutions covering appointments, appropriations, engineering contracts, grants and interagency service agreements.
On a motion by Commissioner Jeff Fix and a second by Commissioner David Levacy, the board unanimously approved the minutes from the April 14, 2026 meeting and then proceeded through the consent and departmental resolution list. The packet included an appointment of R. Matt Claypool to the Fairfield County Port Authority Board and 31 items related to appropriations, reimbursements and account transfers.
Engineer Jeremiah Upp highlighted transportation items in the packet: approval of a general services agreement with JB Services, LLC, related to a bridge replacement on Basil-Western Road (the structure damaged in mid-March storms) and the Hamburg Road Bridge Replacement Project (PID #113793), for which the engineer also recommended awarding the contract bid to Axis Civil Construction and advertising for the 2026 micro-surfacing program. Those engineering resolutions were approved by the board.
The board approved a Grant Agreement with the Ohio Emergency Management Agency for the FY25 Emergency Management Performance Grant Award as presented by Emergency Management and Facilities staff. The Board of Elections received an appropriation for cyber23 expenses. Fairfield County Job & Family Services’ multiple service agreements and memo expenditure/reimbursement items were approved as listed in the packet, including agreements with regional placement and service providers.
Sheriff Alex Lape provided a jail population update during the meeting, reporting the facility was housing 319 people, of whom 28 were under the federal contract and three under other contracts.
The meeting concluded with authorization for payment of invoices needing Board approval and adjournment at 10:08 a.m. All resolutions recorded roll-call votes of aye by Commissioners Jeff Fix, David Levacy and Steve Davis.
