Robin Reeves, who represents Seneca County on the Region 17 Mental Health & Recovery Services Board, told commissioners that Region 17 had approximately $1.3 million available in the 1 Ohio grant cycle after a $166,000 carryover and that it received 26 applications requesting more than $7 million. The regional panel referred nine applicants to the state for further review; final awards are determined by the 1 Ohio process.
Reeves said Region 17 defined local priorities for cycle 2 including crisis services (behavioral health urgent care), services for children and families (group homes and residential treatment) and treatment (residential/inpatient). She said the state-level awards timetable is not confirmed but hoped decisions would be announced in late summer or early fall.
Commissioners approved a resolution reappointing Reeves as Seneca County’s representative to the 1 Ohio Region 17 board effective July 1, 2026. During public comment Reeves corrected a prior characterization of fund distribution: she said roughly 55% goes to the foundation for grants and administration, 15% goes to the state of Ohio, and about 30% returns to counties and municipalities.
