Carl Junction's board voted on May 5, 2026, to terminate its use of the ACI Speedpay online payment platform after the vendor notified the city that a platform fee would begin July 1 and cost about $1,995 per month under current usage levels.
The clerk summarized the vendor notice and recent usage: "I got this email last week that starting... July 1, it will go up to $1,995 per month to allow them to use this site," noting the city received only two or three payments through the service in recent months. Board members agreed the monthly fee would be disproportionate to current use and proposed terminating the service rather than absorb the new cost.
A motion to cease the ACI Speedpay service was made by Walter and seconded by Roger; members voted by show of hands and the chair said the motion passed with six in favor and two absent. The board asked staff to contact the small number of residents who use the service to explain the change and to publicize alternative payment options available on the city's website.
No new vendor or replacement payment platform was approved at the meeting; staff recommended terminating the ACI contract prior to the vendor's platform-fee commencement date unless a termination notice is filed by June 1 per the vendor's terms.
