Cottonwood County hires part-time landfill scale operator and approves seasonal staff

County Coordinator Kelly Thongvivong said interviews were held and the committee recommended Mathes. Commissioner Wayne Maras moved to hire Holly Mathes at Range 8, minimum ($22.56 per hour), effective April 27, 2026, contingent on successful completion of all hiring requirements; Commissioner Larry Anderson seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The board also unanimously approved a slate of seasonal hires: fourth-year parks employees Barb Hepp and John Hedman; second-year highway employee Blaise Larson; and first-year parks employee Mikalah Konz. Those hires were approved pending successful completion of hiring requirements.
The minutes do not include job descriptions beyond titles, benefits details, or who will supervise the new hires. The hires are effective as listed once hiring conditions are satisfied.
