The Erie Planning Commission on Feb. 18 voted to forward a resolution recommending that Town Council reappoint Commissioners Sherry Booth and Tim Burns. The commission's petition will be included in the Town Council packet for the March 3 meeting, staff said.
Commissioners Booth and Burns recused themselves during the roll call for the resolution. Staff clarified an administrative point: under the municipal code the seats associated with these appointments are vacant on May 17 and the new appointees would not be seated until that date unless council adopts an ordinance changing the schedule. Because of that timing staff recommended striking the meeting-start date phrase in the draft resolution; the commission adopted the resolution with that modification and passed it with five votes in favor and two recusals recorded.
Staff said, if approved by Town Council in March, the signed resolution will be transmitted to the town clerk and included in council materials; the clerk's office manages recruitment and will finalize appointment timing consistent with code and council direction.
