Fayette County commissioners approve appointments, contracts and airport and water-project spending

The board filled and renewed several local positions: Jason Duff was appointed to the Fayette County Rural Zoning Commission for a five‑year term beginning June 1, 2026; Dennis McCoppin and Jeff Sollars were re‑appointed to the Fayette County Planning Commission for three‑year terms beginning June 1, 2026; Glenn Rankin was re‑appointed for a three‑year term commencing June 1, 2025; and Luke Bihl was appointed to the Planning Commission for a two‑year term beginning April 1, 2026. The board approved agreements and contracts for county services. It authorized entry into the CCAO Service Corporation Workers' Compensation Group Retrospective Rating Plan (rating period beginning Jan. 1, 2027) and approved an agreement with the Ohio Public Defender to provide indigent defense services in Fayette County and Washington C.H. Court for July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027 for $62,624, payable in four installments.
For county facilities and grounds, the board accepted a $5,175 contract with Kile Landscaping to maintain landscaping at the Destination Outlet Mall entrance and approved a multi‑site mowing and groundskeeping contract with Maggard's Nursery with detailed weekly and bi‑annual rates for county properties. The board separately accepted Maggard's proposals to fertilize the courthouse lawn (estimated $570) and to slice‑seed the prosecutor's office ($440).
On airport business, the board approved a one‑year lease (auto‑renewing monthly) with Phoenix Flight Test, Inc. for Hangar No. 6 at the Fayette County Airport at $800 per month. The board accepted a quote from Larrick Construction & Excavating totaling $22,475 to repair a leach field at the airport and accepted a Granite Telecommunications quote for phone services at the Fayette County Economic Development building (one‑time equipment cost $299.44; monthly service share $21.98).
The board entered executive session at 9:36 a.m. for personnel discussions with representatives of the Fayette County District Board of Health and returned to regular session at 9:56 a.m.
The meeting concluded with travel and training authorizations for Commissioner Tony Anderson and county staff, approval of emergency travel and transport expenses for Department of Job & Family Services staff, and adjournment.
