The Middletown Town Council voted to appoint two alternates to the Zoning Board of Review following interviews with applicants on Monday.
Chair (S2) opened the interviews and introduced the two candidates listed on the agenda. Joseph Mark (S5), who described decades of business and finance experience and a recent move to the island, and Kendall Tucker Holmes (S3), a longtime local property owner with landlord experience, answered questions about their qualifications, local ties and views on the comprehensive plan.
Councilors nominated and approved Joseph Mark as second alternate and Kendall Tucker Holmes as third alternate, with terms expiring April 2027. The appointments were made by voice vote; the meeting transcript records unanimous affirmative responses.
During the appointments discussion, the Chair noted the town clerk will arrange the standard orientation, including zoning-code training, and annual ethics and open-meeting materials for the new alternates.
The council will notify abutters and arrange follow-up contact and onboarding for the appointees.
