Council approves Earth Day, Arbor Day and Workers Memorial Day resolutions; consent agenda and administrative matters pass

The Snohomish County Council adopted three ceremonial resolutions and approved routine business during its April 22 general legislative session.

The council unanimously approved Resolution 26-013 recognizing April 22, 2026, as Earth Day in Snohomish County and Resolution 26-014 recognizing April 24, 2026, as Arbor Day. Both motions were moved, seconded and passed 5–0.

Council also adopted Resolution 26-015 recognizing April 28, 2026, as Workers Memorial Day. A council member said, "I appreciate the opportunity for us to do this every year. I try to go out to it every year...it is somber because it is recognizing those that we've lost over the last year all across the state," and another council member invited the public to the Workers Memorial event at 5:00 p.m. in the Mission Building Courtyard. Council staff read a statement from the Snohomish Island Labor Council noting national worker injury and fatality statistics and urging continued attention to workplace safety. The resolution passed 5–0.

The consent agenda (items 1–8) was approved without discussion, and administrative matters under Motion 26-177 were approved unanimously. No public commenters spoke at the meeting.

These actions were routine, ceremonial or procedural; no final policy changes or ordinance adoptions occurred at the April 22 session.
