Council adopts recommended CIP project list after robust public nominations

Woodinville’s City Council adopted a recommended Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) project list on April 21 after staff detailed a public-driven process that gathered 51 project submissions representing 39 unique ideas and produced 15 new projects for inclusion.
Public works staff said the draft CIP includes projects already underway and previously funded items as well as new and current projects brought forward by the community. The presenter, Joshua Jeffrey, said the process produced "15 new projects for consideration" and that the total recommended list contains roughly 75 projects spanning 2- and 6-year cycles. Staff emphasized the list is for inclusion only and does not allocate funding; prioritization and budget estimates will follow in later steps.
Director Nunez Souza and other staff noted projects range across divisions — streets, surface water, parks, and facilities — and gave examples including culvert projects to address flooding, irrigation modernization at City Hall and Boulevard Park, and potential emergency backup power for the emergency operations center pending grant acceptance. Councilmembers thanked staff for public outreach and the visual project map and unanimously moved to adopt the recommended project list so staff can proceed with scope and budgeting work.
Councilmembers said inclusion on the list enables the city to pursue grant opportunities and called for follow-up prioritization in upcoming work sessions and the city’s transportation improvement plan.
