Lafayette City Council approved a contract with Dixon Construction and authorized an immediate notice to proceed for the 19th Street concrete project, city staff said.
"You have in front of you 3 items that are related to the 19th Street concrete project, CDBG," said Eric Felix, engineering planner, who described the scope as the removal and replacement of about 1½ blocks of sidewalk, two alley approaches and about 80 feet of curb and gutter. Felix recommended awarding the bid to Dixon Construction.
The chair called for approval of the contract. The council moved and seconded the award; the motion passed on a voice vote. Felix confirmed the contract amount as $31,004.11 and then asked the council to approve a notice to proceed effective immediately; that motion also passed by voice vote.
The council did not record roll-call tallies in the transcript; approvals were taken by voice vote. The project is funded through a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) bid-opening process, and staff indicated three bids had been opened the prior week.
Next procedural steps include contract execution and field scheduling; staff asked for and received authorization to begin work immediately.
