Search narrows to two finalists as Schuylkill Valley aims for July 1 superintendent start

The Schuylkill Valley School District reported progress in its superintendent search at the March 23 committee meeting.
Chair Carol told the board the district received 28 applicants and conducted eight first-round interviews. Three candidates advanced to a second round that included union-selected teacher representatives and building and district administrators; that process narrowed the field to two candidates who will move to a third round. The third round will include community members active in the district and additional reference checks and background items will follow.
"After that third round, we'll have additional items and references to investigate, but our goal is to have a contract in hand to begin as of July 1," Chair Carol said.
What’s next: The board plans community participation in the final round and anticipates further vetting before a vote on contract approval.
