Deb (S13) reported the Illinois Gaming Board identified a $4,339.82 overpayment in video-gaming tax distributions; the IGB will recoup the amount by reducing a future payment. Deb also said a closed grant requires remitting earned interest: total interest due back to the state is $9,555.69; the county may retain $1,500 ($500 per year) per the grant agreement. The committee approved recommending the remittance to the full board and a motion was made to pay the amount from contingency.
On American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds the committee discussed a small returned balance and options for use before the year-end deadline. Members proposed using the funds for maintenance work (including an estimated $1,400 tree removal at the courthouse pavilion) or to purchase flags; the committee moved those decisions to the full board so projects can be identified before the deadline.
Other actions: the committee approved forwarding an annual proclamation for assault awareness month to the full board and approved an appointment for Michael Bowman to the Edgewood Fire Protection District; motions to send these items to the full board carried on voice votes.
