Commissioners approve grant reallocation, cleaning contract and community-use consent

At Thursday's meeting the Monroe County Board of Commissioners approved several routine contracts and grant actions by unanimous votes.
The board approved a memorandum of understanding to reallocate $3,680 from JDAI grant funds for a community-wide radio partnership intended to increase awareness of justice-involved youth services. Mr. Williams, who said he was filling in for Christine McAfee, described the radio partnership as a way to better communicate available services and increase program usage; commissioners voiced support.
The board also approved a Super Solution service agreement (LIT special purpose fund 1114) for $3,400 to provide quarterly deep cleaning at the Binkley House Emergency Shelter, including an additional $200 for upholstery and carpet.
Separately, the board approved an amendment to the 2024 Sofia Travis Community Service Grant to allow Red Bud Books until the end of the calendar year to expend remaining funds after event cancellations reduced spending opportunities. The Sofia Travis grant committee had recommended the extension.
The board granted a notice of consent allowing a Spicewood 2 neighborhood resident, Miss Carney, to enter county-owned land to remove debris and plant a pollinator garden as part of a city grant application; staff prepared the consent to help the resident meet the city's application requirements.
All motions were passed by recorded voice votes of 3-0. The board did not receive public opposition during the meeting on these items.
