Rock resurfacing operations in District 5 are finished and patching work will continue over the next eight weeks. The county sold a tandem truck for $11,000 and a semi truck for $5,000 at a recent auction.
On dust control, the county applied a single load of calcium chloride at the Conover Road intersection near Prairie Farm Trail as a trial. The roads official said weather and subsequent traffic will determine how effective the treatment is at suppressing dust and stabilizing the road surface; supervisors asked that staff monitor results and report back.
On recycling, staff and a supervisor reported procurement of a used, reconditioned baler and in‑feed conveyor that will enable the county to process #5 plastics (items like certain yogurts and plastic tubs). Staff said the system should be in place within 30–60 days with public outreach and a planned media release once it is operational.
