Staff reports legislative activity; two congressional funding requests submitted for regional projects

On state policy, Maderi said RCTC asked Assemblymember Jeff Gonzalez to pull sponsored CEQA legislation for further evaluation after the Assembly Natural Resources Committee signaled reluctance to consider the proposed expansion. He summarized a series of staff positions taken this month on various bills and noted ongoing coordination with partner agencies on technical amendments.
On federal funding, Maderi reported two community project funding requests had been submitted to the House Appropriations Committee: a joint $15,000,000 request from Representative Young Kim for the 91 Eastbound corridor operations project and a $3,000,000 request from Representative Mark Takano for the Mead Valley Metrolink station and mobility hub.
Maderi closed by saying staff will keep the commission apprised as Congress works through fiscal year 2027 appropriations.
