City finance staff told the committee they have begun to resolve long-standing problems with the Tyler Munis system and have successfully produced and submitted a delinquent property tax file to Chancery totaling more than $580,000 in unpaid taxes.
"We have successfully produced a delinquent property tax file and submitted it to Chancery with more than $580,000 in delinquent taxes," Staff member (S3) said. Staff said producing the file required software rework but should make future delinquent tax processing smoother.
Staff also reported the ability to refund tax overpayments and to process tax-relief payments through the system — tasks that had been blocked in the recent past. S3 said the next major challenge is preparing tax processing for tax year 2026 and cautioned that six months of lead time may not be sufficient to avoid problems later this year.
Committee members responded positively to the systems progress but emphasized the importance of continuing to monitor Tyler Munis performance and suggested that staff maintain close coordination with the vendor and with internal departments as tax processing milestones approach.
