Resident urges action on heavy truck traffic on 67th Avenue West; council asks for reporting details

William Havel, a resident at 5410 67th Avenue, used the communications portion of the May 5 meeting to press the council for more enforcement and action to reduce tractor-trailer traffic on 67th Avenue West. "The road is not built for the the traffic weight that's coming through," Havel said, saying the road is sand-based and describing the timeframe when trucks pass (about 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.).
A council member responded that the city will continue to monitor the area but encouraged residents to document offending vehicles: "Grab a license plate, give it to lieutenant Hesseling... and we can try to make a difference down there," the council member said. Staff and council noted Google Maps routing and limits on police availability, and asked Havel to email photos and evidence he has already collected so staff can pursue targeted enforcement.
Council did not schedule immediate regulatory changes at the meeting but directed staff and police to monitor and follow up on documented incidents.
