Piedmont Community College requests $1.4M operating and $757K capital from Person County for FY2027

On capital, Browning requested roughly $757,000 for projects including HVAC and water-pipe insulation (about $268,000), door-lock and security upgrades ($150,000), IT network and switch upgrades ($186,000), and elevator modernization ($153,000). He also described South Campus efforts and planned fundraising to support program moves such as welding.
Browning emphasized PCC’s enrollment gains—citing program growth in mechatronics and cosmetology and newly planned programs (a 9-1-1 telecommunications program in collaboration with Richmond Community College)—as justification for workforce and capital investments.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions about service area numbers and whether the growth metrics applied to Person County residents; Browning confirmed the service-area figures refer to Person County.
