Local groups seek scholarship applicants; Easter egg hunt set for April 4; residents raise traffic concern

"All they have to do is scan that QR code and we will have the applications that will populate," an Alpha Kappa Alpha representative said, urging distribution of flyers to students and schools. The presenter said the program has supported Inkster students since the 1960s and noted a recent recipient attending Jackson State who is studying abroad.
During public comment, an Inkster task-force member announced an Easter egg hunt on April 4 at the Simmons Building, 29150 Carlisle, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The speaker asked for candy and Easter-basket donations, noting drop-off boxes at City Hall, the police station and the Simmons Building, and provided a contact name (Connie Mitchell) and a telephone number that was offered to meeting attendees for coordination.
The task-force speaker also reported that black traffic-control poles were removed on Moore Street/Denbigh, temporarily restricting access to a neighborhood circle and causing longer travel times; the speaker said the mayor and police chief planned to discuss the situation at a staff meeting.
Organizers said they will leave flyers by the entrance for distribution and that scholarship-application and donation information is posted on social media and on the organizations’ flyer.
