Council reviews consent agenda including K9 reimbursement, tax-audit contract and Saint Michael's clinic lease

The agenda also included an emergency replacement of a 408 automatic transfer switch for the police department and two surplus personal-property declarations (including a refrigerator). The Chair said the council would consider authorizing a lease of Saint Michael's medical clinic to expand clinic services to the community side.
The council was asked to approve a cash reimbursement to Jonathan Yarbrough for ``necessary veterinary services related to the euthanasia of our canine officer Chopper that happened on March 13,'' the Chair said.
On municipal revenue oversight, the Chair described a recommendation from finance to enter an agreement with River Tree Systems Incorporated, an Alabama-based firm that provides municipal tax-examination and compliance services. A presenter from finance noted the arrangement has historically run about $18,000 annually before the vendor must return to the council for additional authorization.
Also on the consent agenda were an item to declare certain reported property conditions public nuisances and routine appointments and donations, including a $2,000 donation to the runner's club for the Woodstock 5K. The Chair said the runner's-club donation was reduced from a prior $3,000 figure and noted city public-safety and employee participation in the event.
Most consent items were described as resolutions or first readings and were presented for the council's consideration as routine business; the Chair repeatedly invited questions and said several items are on the consent agenda for streamlined action.
