Board updates liquor code, creates truck-stop license category and eases park fees

The North Aurora Village Board on May 4 approved several changes to the village liquor code.
Staff said the updates include cleanup language (renaming banquet halls to "private event space") and a new approach to gas-station licenses: a "gas station 2" category would apply where a gas station also meets the statutory definition of a truck stop under Illinois video-gaming law, allowing up to six video-gaming machines consistent with restaurants and bars.
The board also approved changes affecting the park district: it eliminated an annual $250 fee for municipal park liquor permits (municipalities are not charged for permits), extended allowable liquor service at the Wilds at Red Oak from 10:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. for general events (not weddings), removed Island Park as an authorized liquor location and permitted limited "bring your own" beer at general events at Wilds at Red Oak.
All changes were approved on a roll-call vote.
