Council: East Bay slip requests would need PUD amendment; staff to enforce boat permits

A resident asked the council whether East Bay's request for additional boat slips was up for a vote and whether the city planned to enforce boat-permit requirements.
City staff replied that additional slips are governed by a planned-unit development (PUD) condition that restricts motorized watercraft at the waterfront and that any relief would require a formal amendment application and the same public-review process used for the original PUD approval.
Staff said there was no application pending and therefore no action for council to take now. The council's lake-board representative and city code staff said they will begin coordinating enforcement efforts to ensure vessels on the lake have the required permits or guest certificates and noted safety concerns about larger engines and wave runners.
Staff said they would begin outreach and work with code enforcement and the lake board to address overcrowding and permit compliance.
