The Athens County Board of Commissioners approved Health Department recommendations Feb. 10 to award HSTS (onsite sewage treatment) project bids for several addresses.
The board accepted the Health Department's recommendation to award the soil-evaluation contract for 3209 Glazier Road in Guysville to Carlos Cole for $550, and to award the replacement-project bid for addresses including 7700 Shaw Road and 7902 Bitter Sweet Court to Bear Claw Mechanical & Excavating for $10,835. The Health Department noted that the projects have variable WPCLF and Ohio EPA funding shares: one project 85% funded, one 100% funded (7700 Shaw Rd), and one 50% funded (7902 Bitter Sweet Ct).
The motion to award the bids was made by Commissioner Chris Chmiel and seconded by Commissioner Charlie Adkins; roll call recorded Lenny Eliason absent, Chmiel yea, Adkins yea. The Health Department stated bids were posted in January and recommended lowest complete bids.
The county will proceed with contracting steps consistent with the Health Department's recommendations and funding availability.
