Allen County outlines courthouse renovation RFQ, wiring relocation and budget planning

Commissioner Brian Winegardner and county staff discussed the Courthouse Renovation Project’s Request for Qualifications for a design professional. Jason Patchet and Mark Evans of the law firm Bricker Graydon reviewed scope and scheduling concerns and said they would revise the RFQ for commissioner review. Commissioners agreed they want the design architect involved in establishing the project budget.
Staff also raised the need to relocate fiber and analog wiring currently located in the Courthouse before the renovations begin. Commissioners directed that wiring be moved prior to construction to limit scope and disruption during the renovation.
The board recessed the session and planned to continue staff updates after the Dog Warden’s update. No formal contract award or budget appropriation was made during the meeting; staff will return with revised RFQ language and budget recommendations.
